The Pain of Sciatica Symptoms ? Is It All in the Mind?

Posted by Marjorie Massengale on December 30, 2010 at 4:43 PM

Different people have different ways in treating the pain that is relative to sciatica symptoms. Health doctors will usually prescribe over the counter medicines such as painkillers while orthopaedics surgeons may require a spinal operation. Likewise, advocates of healthy living will recommend the use herbal medicine but to some, it is merely a mental condition that can be addressed with the right outlook and attitude.

According to psychotherapists, the brain can gain control over the discomfort by conditioning the patient to look at his or her condition positively. Whatever anxieties or apprehensions the patient has in her mind must be taken out as it will only increase the tendency for the symptoms to recur.

The brain is so powerful that it can immediately send signals depending on how you feel. Let this work to your advantage by conditioning it to manage the pain and the discomfort that sciatica symptoms can cause. Since each person has a different level of tolerance, conditioning the mind to deal with this pain in a more positive way can be helpful.

Sciatica symptoms come and go. Nevertheless, being able to handle the pain using your mental faculties will go a long way in making you feel better.

The mind may well help to cope with the pain but it is not the cause. If the cause is something like muscle imbalances which do often cause sciatica then the best solution is to correct those imbalances. Often it just takes some simple stretching exercises. See some examples at:

"Laser" is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, a unique type of light energy produced by man. Laser light is different than visible light in its characteristics of collimation (all emitted light is almost perfectly parallel), coherent (light waves are all in phase in both time and space) and monochromatic (one specific wave length).
